Bruce Power Refurbishment Bruce A Unit 1 & 2 ( Feasibility Study),

Description:
In 2004, SNC-Lavalin Nuclear (SLN) formed an Alliance with AECL, Babcock & Wilcox, NSS and other groups to estimate and submit a proposal to Bruce Power for the refurbishment of Units 1 & 2. The study consisted of preparing the scope of work, the estimates, the overall project schedule, and a risk analysis. SLN was a key player in this process and had staff working at the plant. Subsequent to this exercise, SLN later bid and won two major contracts from Bruce Power.

SNC-Lavalin Nuclear is acting as the EPCM subcontractor for PBMR Demonstration Power Plant. The current schedule is to start construction in 2007 and for the demonstration plant to be completed by 2010. The first commercial PBMR modules are planned for 2013.

CANATOM NPM was responsible for the civil and structural design of the site and buildings, the nuclear and non-nuclear systems outside the containment structure (BNSP) and the turbine building and systems (BOP). CANATOM NPM was also responsible for the construction management and the supply of equipment for the plant.
